About Us

East Thurrock United Ladies FC came into being officially on 1st June 2007, although the Management Committee had put in several months of hard work behind the scenes before that. We are affiliated to Essex County FA (affiliation number GWW00100).

Initially the club fielded a team at Under 16 level playing in the Essex County Girls’ Football League. The nucleus of that squad had competed a successful 2006-07 season under the banner of local youth football club ‘Corringham Cosmos’, but decided to make the switch to East Thurrock United with a view to entering the Essex Women’s League for the 2009-10 season.

The general feeling amongst the parents, coaches and the girls themselves was that it would be advantageous to form an alliance with an established senior club in order to make a successful move into women’s football.

Ryman League East Thurrock United is the local non-league club and they were very supportive of our proposal. It didn’t take too long to reach an agreement that is beneficial to both parties and we are looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship.

East Thurrock United already ran several boys and youth teams and they saw the move into girls’ and women’s football as a natural extension of their successful ‘Football in the Community’ scheme. Rock’s First Team Manager, John Coventry, also accepted an invitation to become President of the new club and will be lending his coaching expertise on occasion.

In that first season the club finished runners-up in U16 Division B, narrowly missing out on the title by one point to Harlow Town despite being undefeated.

For the 2008-09 season we moved up to the newly created U18 Division 1. Once again Harlow Town were our main opponents but this time we romped to the championship title and completed a memorable double by beating Havering 4-1 in the final of the League Cup. Once again we were undefeated.

With nothing more to prove in the Girls’ League, we carried out our plan to move up to the Women’s League Division 3 for 2009-10 in spite of having a very young squad. To date, this move has been nothing short of sensational with comprehensive victories over several Division 1 and Division 2 teams in the League Cup and a goal difference of +112 after nine league games with just 3 goals conceded.
