The club began the season with a full squad of eighteen players, although this has since reduced by one owing to conflicting school and family commitments.  In order to be eligible to play in the Essex County Girls Football League, girls must be in school years 10 or 11 during the current season.

Caroline Sheppard (aka Moosey)
Position: Centre Back
Age Group: Year 10
Signed: Pre season 2006-07 (Corringham Cosmos)

Caroline is a dominant centre back who is in her second season with the team. She has developed well as she has gained experience, forming a very strong partnership with Kelsey Bridges at the back.

Charley Sayer-Payne (aka Chazzy)
Position: Left Back
Age Group: Year 11
Signed: Pre season 2002-03 (Corringham Cosmos)

Charley is the only naturally left-footed player in the squad and, along with Lauren Riddick, is our longest serving player. She is first choice at left back, but has played every role in defence and left midfield. Club captain for 2007-08.

Chelsea Hinz (aka Crossbar Challenge)
Position: midfield
Age Group: Year 10
Signed: Pre season 2007-08

Chelsea is very strong and skilful player who settled into the team immediately. She has made the right midfield position her own, but she can also play in other positions including centre back. Developed an uncanny (and unfortunate) knack of striking the crossbar early in the season!

Courtney McGovern (aka Court)
Position: defence/midfield
Age Group: Year 11
Signed: Pre season 2006-07 (Corringham Cosmos)

Courtney is a very versatile player who can play in pretty much any position. Her favoured position is right midfield but she has become established at right back and has made a strong impact in the back four.

Emma Smith (aka Emz)
Position: defender
Age Group: Year 10
Signed: Pre season 2006-07 (Corringham Cosmos)

Emma is another versatile player who can play right across the back four although her strongest positions are right/left back. Emma was one of five players who played in every game of our 12 month unbeaten run.

Hayley Earley (aka Hurley)
Position: midfield
Age Group: Year 10
Signed: Pre season 2007-08

Hayley suffered a nasty ankle injury during our trials day that forced her to miss the whole pre-season and the first two league games. This setback has hampered her development this season but she has started to make progress and is trying to establish herself.

Hayley Williamson (aka ‘H’)
Position: midfield
Age Group: Year 11
Signed: Pre season 2005-06 (Corringham Cosmos)

Hayley is in her third season with us and is firmly established in a central midfield role where she has formed a good partnership with Lauren Riddick. She continues to grow stronger with every game. She can also play centre forward if required.

Justine Palmer (aka Baked Bean)
Position: defender
Age Group: Year 11
Signed: Pre season 2007-08

Justine joined the club this season and is making steady progress after a difficult start. Her favoured position is right back, where she faces strong competition, but she can also play on the right or left side of midfield.

Kealy Farley (aka Ginge)
Position: striker
Age Group: Year 10
Signed: Pre season 2004-05 (Corringham Cosmos)

Kealy has been the team’s main striker since joining and formed a deadly partnership upfront with Sophie Dowman last season. The pair shared 51 goals, Kealy contributing 25. She notched a hat-trick in the last five minutes of the final league game of last season.

Kelsey Bridges (aka Kels)
Position: Centre Back
Age Group: Year 10
Signed: Pre season 2005-06 (Corringham Cosmos)

Kelsey is a skilful centre back who has mastered the sweeper system very effectively. Now in her third season with us, she has been unlucky with injuries but her strength and determination increase with every game.

Lauren Riddick (aka Lowl)
Position: Midfield
Age Group: Year 11
Signed: Pre season 2002-03 (Corringham Cosmos)

Lauren, along with Charley, is the longest serving player in the squad. She started out as a centre forward but has shone since being moved back to central midfield. Dead ball expert, scoring many goals from free kicks.

Leigh Wainford
Position: defender
Age Group: Year 11
Signed: Pre season 2005-06 (Corringham Cosmos)

Leigh was firmly settled into the right back position before sustaining two nasty ankle injuries in quick succession at the end of the 2005-06 season and then in the middle of last season. Striving to regain her fitness and get back to her best.

Mae Town (aka Whippet)
Position: midfield/defender
Age Group: Year 11
Signed: January 2007 (Corringham Cosmos)

Mae joined us in the middle of last season and has continued to go from strength to strength in all areas of her game. Her favoured positions are left or right midfield, but she can also play up front and at full back.  She has an identical twin, which keeps us guessing!

Sophie Dowman (aka Titch)
Position: striker
Age Group: Year 10
Signed: Pre season 2006-07 (Corringham Cosmos)

Sophie joined us last season and struck up an immediate partnership with Kealy Farley. She can turn defenders inside out with her speed and skill which, coupled with Kealy’s movement, creates a fearsome strike force. Top scorer last season with 26 goals from 14 games.

Sophie Drake (aka Butterfly)
Position: midfield / goalkeeper
Age Group: Year 10
Signed: September 2007

Sophie joined us this season from our rivals Leigh Rockets. She is the ultimate utility player, excelling in every position, but she prefers midfield. She doubles as our reserve goalkeeper and made her debut in that position. Sophie is also a champion swimmer with many medals to her name.

Sophie Mingay (aka the String / Tango)
Position: goalkeeper
Age Group: Year 11
Signed: October 2006 (Corringham Cosmos)

Sophie joined us in 2006 and was the long awaited goalkeeper that the club had been searching for. She immediately annexed the number one jersey and has developed into a very strong ‘keeper with the help of Assistant Coach John Hinz.


Tia Hart (aka Scatty Mary)
Position: midfield
Age Group: Year 10
Signed: Pre season 2007-08

Tia is in her first season with us and has added another dimension to our midfield where she can play in either the centre or on the left. Her stamina is second to none, and she does not stop running all game. She can also play up front if required.
